
Since the opening of its first location in the Dallas area and second location in the Houston area, Jasper’s was named one of Esquire Magazine’s Top 20 Best New Restaurants in America and Texas Monthly’s 10 Best New Restaurants in Texas. It was this show of support that enticed executive chef and owner Kent Rathbun to take his “gourmet backyard cuisine” to the backyard of Austin. Jasper’s in the Domain, opened its doors in spring 2007.
"Opening the Jasper’s concept has been a long-term career goal of mine,” says executive chef Kent Rathbun. “I wanted to create a restaurant where guests could enjoy an unforgettable meal whether they were looking for an inexpensive or high-end dining experience and that’s exactly what Jasper’s has to offer. Entering into the Austin market advances my career goal and the excitement of opening Jasper’s third location has only exceeded my expectations.”
Located in the Domain, an upscale center in North Austin, Jasper’s features a casual design with a “modern outdoors” theme. The 9,000 square foot interior brings Chef Rathbun’s backyard cuisine concept to life with teak outdoor-style furniture, bamboo planters, dramatic lighting and artistic interpretations of natural elements into the overall design scheme. Award-winning Engstrom Design Group of San Francisco, who also designed Rathbun’s first culinary adventure, Abacus in Dallas, created Jasper’s in the same modern, distinctive style.
Catering to meet the needs of social and business guests, Jasper’s offers two business function areas, including an etched glass enclosed board room and a private dining room. Perfect for presentations, social events or business meetings, the board room and private dining room are equipped with high speed and wireless internet access to facilitate dynamic presentations.
For those in search of the ultimate happy hour destination, guests will quickly discover that Jasper’s bar offers a comfortable and energetic spot with a plasma screen television to watch the game or just relax after a hard day. The talented bar staff, creates an unbeatable place to enjoy time with friends and family. Additionally, the new Austin location offers an outdoor dining area featuring a large terrace surrounded by a grove of Live Oak trees, making this artistic restaurant anything but ordinary.
Focusing on the best of America’s regional cuisine, Jasper’s menu boasts delectable appetizers such as the original Maytag Blue Cheese Potato Chips and Proscuitto Wrapped “Shrimp ‘n’ Grits” with Grilled Corn Grits and Lemon-Thyme Butter sauce. Dive deeper into the menu and indulge in Jasper’s Pan-Seared Salmon served with Grilled Asparagus Risotto, Texas Peach Barbecued Pork Tenderloin with Bourbon Creamed Corn , or Wood Grilled Flat Iron Steak served with Grilled Portobello Whippers.
